MVV Thrashes Jong Utrecht in Dominant Display
Maastricht, Netherlands – MVV secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Jong Utrecht at De Geusselt stadium in a match corresponding to the 35th round of the Eerste Divisie. The home side controlled possession (57%) and displayed clinical finishing, registering 21 shots with 10 on target.
The match started at a blistering pace. S. Braken opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, assisted by R. Buifrahi. M. Kleinen doubled the lead in the 23rd minute, also assisted by Buifrahi. Braken netted again in the 26th minute, this time with an assist from R. Esajas, making it 3-0 before the half-hour mark. Despite a yellow card for Jong Utrecht’s L. Edhart in the 40th minute, the visitors failed to mount a comeback.
In the second half, MVV continued to dominate. Braken completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute, assisted by B. Smeets, and N. El Basri capped off the rout in the 90th minute with an unassisted goal. Jong Utrecht, with only 43% possession and 12 shots, never found a way to breach MVV’s solid defense. The referee for the match was R. Sturm. The win leaves MVV in a strong position in the league.
