Heated Monterrey Derby Ends in Draw
Guadalupe, Mexico – A tense Monterrey derby between Monterrey and Tigres UANL ended in a 1-1 draw at the Estadio BBVA, a match marked by intensity and controversy. The match, valid for matchday 16 of the Liga MX Apertura 2025, was full of emotions from the start.
The first half saw an exchange of cards, including a red card for Juan Rodriguez of Monterrey. Tigres also suffered the expulsion of Jesús Angulo just before halftime. Amidst the chaos, Monterrey managed to take the lead with a penalty converted by Sergio Canales on the stroke of halftime.
