Monterrey and Inter Draw in a Hard-Fought Match in Pasadena
Pasadena, California – In a vibrant match played at the Rose Bowl, Monterrey and Inter Milan drew 1-1 in the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Monterrey started the match with great impetus, and in the 25th minute, S. Ramos opened the scoring with a goal following an assist from O. Torres, igniting the fans. However, Inter didn’t back down, and just before halftime, in the 42nd minute, L. Martinez equalized with a goal assisted by Carlos Augusto, showcasing the Italian team’s quality.
The intensity of the game remained throughout the second half. J. Rodriguez of Monterrey received a yellow card in the 45th minute, while K. Asllani and N. Barella of Inter were also cautioned at 61′ and 88′ respectively. To close the list of cautions, L. Martinez from Inter was also cautioned at the 90th minute.
While Inter dominated possession with 62% compared to Monterrey’s 38%, the Mexican team proved solid in defense. Inter attempted more shots (15 against Monterrey’s 9), but only 2 of them were on target compared to Monterrey’s 1. The match ended in a draw, leaving everything open in Group A.
