Monterrey Thrashes Forge FC in CONCACAF Champions League
Guadalupe, February 12, 2025.- Monterrey secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Canadian side Forge FC in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16, played at the Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe. The Rayados dominated possession (63%) and created numerous scoring chances (15 shots, 8 on target).
Germán Berterame opened the scoring in the 19th minute, assisted by Sebastián Canales. In the second half, Jonathan Cortizo extended the lead in the 48th minute, thanks to a pass from Omar Torres. Berterame added a third goal in the 58th minute, again assisted by Torres, sealing the victory for the Mexican team.
The match saw yellow cards for both teams. Monterrey accumulated three cautions (Borges, Deoss and Medina), while Forge FC received two (Choiniere and another). Despite the defeat, Forge FC managed 12 shots, but only 2 were on target. Referee W. López officiated the match. With this result, Monterrey holds a significant advantage going into the second leg.
