Monterrey Overcomes Atlas in Incident-Filled Match
Guadalupe, Mexico – In a match held at the Estadio BBVA, Monterrey defeated Atlas in a game marked by intensity and expulsions. The final score reflected Monterrey’s dominance, although the match was not without controversy.
Atlas took the lead in the 25th minute with a penalty goal by U. Djurdjevic, but the joy was short-lived. The expulsion of J. Lozano in the 36th minute, after receiving his second yellow card, left Atlas with one less player. Monterrey took advantage of the situation and, although S. Canales missed a penalty in the 39th minute, G. Berterame scored immediately after, leveling the score.
In the second half, Monterrey continued to dominate the game, with 71% possession. G. Berterame scored again in the 82nd minute, giving his team the lead. To make matters worse for Atlas, Monterrey increased the difference with a goal by G. Berterame in the 90th minute, sealing the victory. The expulsion of R. Chavez for Monterrey, after a second yellow card, did not alter the final result.
