MC Alger defeats Young Africans in tense CAF Champions League encounter
Algiers, December 7, 2024 – MC Alger secured a 2-0 victory over Young Africans in a thrilling CAF Champions League group stage match at the Stade du 5 Juillet 1962. The game, played in Algiers, was characterized by a significant disparity in possession and goal-scoring opportunities.
MC Alger controlled 52% of the possession, compared to Young Africans’ 48%. This dominance translated into a clear advantage in shots on target: 15 for the home side, with 4 on target, against Young Africans’ 2 attempts, none of which were on target.
Despite early pressure from Young Africans, who saw two players booked (Zouzoua and Diarra in the 24th and 90th minutes respectively, and Chama in the 90th), MC Alger broke the deadlock in the 64th minute through a goal by A.
