Makhachkala edges out Akron in a thrilling encounter
Makhachkala emerged victorious over Akron with a 1-0 win at the Anzhi Arena in Kaspiysk. The winning goal came in the 68th minute through G. Agalarov, assisted by M. Hosseinnejad.
The match was characterized by the intensity of both teams, with a total of 23 fouls committed. Akron had more possession of the ball (57%), but Makhachkala was more effective in attack, registering 16 shots (2 on target) compared to Akron’s 9 shots (2 on target).
K. Danilin of Akron received a yellow card in the 9th minute. Later in the 41st minute, G. Agalarov (Makhachkala) and S. Loncar (Akron) were also cautioned.
