Thrilling Draw in Ambato: Emelec and Macará Share the Spoils
Ambato, Ecuador – In a hard-fought match at the Estadio Bellavista de Ambato, Emelec and Macará drew in a game corresponding to matchday 18 of the Liga Pro 2025. The game, refereed by Yerson Zambrano, was a back-and-forth affair with both teams seeking victory.
Emelec took the lead in the 45th minute thanks to a goal by Fernando Castelli, assisted by J. Cevallos. This goal gave the visiting team a valuable advantage just before halftime. However, Macará, driven by their fans and greater ball control (56% possession), did not give up.
Macará’s push paid off in the 80th minute, when F. Paz, assisted by A. Munoz, equalized, unleashing joy among the local fans. Despite the final attempts by both teams, the score remained unchanged, sealing a draw that leaves both teams with one point in their tally.
