Macará Dominates Depleted El Nacional in Ambato
Ambato witnessed a resounding victory for Macará over El Nacional in a match marked by superior possession and exploitation of the opponent’s numerical disadvantage. Macará prevailed with a final score of 2 to 0.
The match, played at Estadio Bellavista and refereed by Oswaldo Contreras, saw Macará dominate the game with 59% possession of the ball, reflected in 20 shots, 8 of which were on target. El Nacional, despite having 41% possession, could only generate 9 shots, with just 3 directed at the goal.
The game became complicated for El Nacional from the 24th minute, when J. Congo received a red card, forcing the team to play with ten men for a large part of the match. Macará’s pressure intensified in the second half, bearing fruit with goals from M. Viera in the 62nd minute and N. Arena in the 79th minute, sealing the victory for the home team.
El Nacional, who had already received several yellow cards, tried to reorganize, but the numerical inferiority and constant pressure from Macará prevented them from reacting. In the end, Macará capitalized on their dominance and took a well-deserved victory at home.
