Lyon Thrashes Rennes in Thrilling Groupama Stadium Encounter
Décines-Charpieu, France – Olympique Lyon secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Stade Rennais in a thrilling Ligue 1 matchday 31 encounter at the Groupama Stadium on Friday. Lyon dominated possession (54%) and created more scoring chances, registering 12 shots (6 on target).
Goals came early for the home side. At the 8th minute, Moussa Fofana opened the scoring with an assist from Thiago Almada. Corentin Tolisso doubled the lead at the 25th minute, thanks to an assist from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Alexandre Lacazette made it 3-0 before halftime, with another assist from Almada.
Rennes pulled one back at the 50th minute with a goal from M. Meite, but Georgi Mikautadze sealed Lyon’s victory with a goal in the 77th minute, assisted by Rayan Cherki.
