Bulgaria Edges Out Luxembourg in Tense Encounter
Luxembourg, November 15, 2024 – Bulgaria secured a 1-0 victory over Luxembourg in a hard-fought match at the Stade de Luxembourg, in the fifth round of the 2024 UEFA Nations League, League C. Despite Luxembourg dominating possession (64%), Bulgaria’s efficiency proved decisive. A goal by A. Kraev in the 23rd minute was enough to secure three points for the visitors. The match was characterized by tension, as evidenced by the number of yellow cards: three for Bulgaria (K. Despodov, G. Milanov, and V. Panayotov) and three for Luxembourg (F. Bohnert, L. Jans, and C. Martins Pereira). Despite Luxembourg’s 19 shots (5 on target), the Bulgarian defense held firm. Luxembourg’s inaccuracy in front of goal and Bulgaria’s clinical finishing were key factors in the final result. The referee was Juri Frischer from Estonia.
