Los Angeles FC cruised to a convincing 3-0 victory over Columbus Crew in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 tie, played at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California on March 5th, 2025. Despite Columbus Crew holding 67% possession, Los Angeles FC’s clinical finishing proved decisive. Denis Bouanga was the star of the show, scoring two goals, the first in the 20th minute and the second at the start of the second half in the 46th minute. Nelson Ordaz added a third goal in the 81st minute. LAFC outshot their opponents significantly, recording 16 shots (8 on target) compared to Columbus Crew’s 9 (1 on target). Yellow cards were shown to Igor Jesus of LAFC and Alexandru Herrera of Columbus Crew. The match was officiated by César Ramos Palazuelos from Mexico. The win gives LAFC a commanding lead heading into the second leg.
