Lorient secured a resounding 5-1 victory over Martigues in a thrilling match at the Stade du Moustoir – Yves Allainmat. The game, part of the 2024 Ligue 2 season’s 34th round, was decided in Lorient’s favor thanks to an excellent second half performance. Martigues initially displayed greater possession (53%), but Lorient proved more clinical in attack, registering 21 shots (8 on target).
The first goal arrived before halftime, courtesy of E. J. Kroupi (45′). After the break, K. Tlili scored for Martigues (58′), briefly equalizing the score. However, Lorient responded with a flurry of goals: Soumano (63′), Kroupi (65′) and Makengo (87′) sealed the victory. Soumano added another goal late on (90′). The match was characterized by several yellow cards, two for Lorient (Yongwa and Kroupi) and one for Martigues (Solvet). Despite Martigues’ possession advantage, Lorient’s finishing proved decisive in securing the win.
