Independiente vs. San Lorenzo: A game of cards and few thrills
The match between Independiente and San Lorenzo in the Argentine Professional League was played at the Estadio Libertadores de América in Avellaneda, Argentina, and was characterized by a high number of yellow cards, a low number of shots on goal, and few thrills.
From the start, the match was quite close, with San Lorenzo dominating possession of the ball. However, the first big moment of the match came in the 19th minute when Alex Luna of Independiente received a yellow card that was later upgraded to a red card after a strong tackle.
From there, the match became more aggressive, and several players were booked: Iván Marcone (Independiente) and Damián Pérez (Independiente) in the first half, Alexis Cuello (San Lorenzo) at the start of the second half, Lucas González (Independiente) in the 53rd minute, Rubén Martínez and Eric Remedi (both in the 66th minute, one from each team), and finally Gastón Campi (San Lorenzo) in the 89th minute.
The few scoring opportunities came mainly from Independiente, who had 4 shots on goal, while San Lorenzo could only manage 3. Despite San Lorenzo’s superiority in possession (67% compared to 33% for Independiente), they were unable to translate the advantage into goals.
