River Plate Dominates in Asunción Despite Scoreless Draw
Asunción, Paraguay – In a match held at the Estadio Tigo La Huerta, River Plate displayed overwhelming dominance over Libertad Asunción in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores 2025 Round of 16. Despite a high ball possession (67%) and a considerable number of shots on goal (19 in total, with 6 on target), the Argentinian team failed to translate their superiority into goals.
Libertad Asunción, playing at home, was largely outmatched, settling for 33% possession and limiting their attacks to 8 shots, of which only 2 were directed at the goal.
