Manchester City defeats Leyton Orient in FA Cup fourth round
Manchester City secured a convincing 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient in the FA Cup fourth round at the Gaughan Group Stadium in London on February 8th, 2025. Despite an early own goal by Ortega in the 16th minute giving the home side the lead, City dominated the match. Possession heavily favoured the visitors (73% vs 27%), reflecting their superiority in the game. Manchester City had 24 shots on goal, 10 on target, while Leyton Orient managed only 3 shots on target.
City’s comeback came in the second half. Khusanov scored the equaliser in the 56th minute, assisted by Lewis. In the closing stages, De Bruyne secured the victory with a goal in the 79th minute, assisted by Grealish. The match was characterized by Manchester City’s superior attacking play, but also saw a few yellow cards, two for Leyton Orient (Cooper and Obiero) and one for City’s McAtee.
