LDU Quito and El Nacional Draw in Thrilling 2-2 Match in Quito
Quito, May 3, 2025 – Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito (LDUQ) and El Nacional played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in the 11th round of the 2025 Liga Pro. The match, officiated by Bryan Loayza, was a dynamic affair with chances for both sides.
LDUQ took the lead in the 4th minute with a goal from D. Aimar, assisted by A. Alvarado. However, El Nacional quickly responded and equalized in the 9th minute through F. Carabali, with an assist from E. Mejia. El Nacional took the lead in the 85th minute with a goal from D. Pazmino, assisted by J. Cevallos. But LDUQ fought back and A. Arce scored a late equalizer in the 90th minute, making the final score a dramatic 2-2.
LDUQ dominated possession with 66%, registering 20 shots (3 on target, 11 off target). El Nacional, with 34% possession, managed 13 shots (5 on target, 5 off target). Corner kicks were also significantly different, with LDUQ earning 14 and El Nacional only 1. Both teams received two yellow cards each.
Despite LDUQ’s statistical advantage in possession and corner kicks, El Nacional showed clinical finishing, capitalizing on their chances. The match was a testament to the competitiveness of the Liga Pro.
