LDU Quito thrashes Deportivo Cuenca in a vibrant match at Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado
Quito, December 1st, 2024.- In a match corresponding to the 15th round of the 2024 Liga Pro second round, LDU Quito achieved a resounding 5-0 victory over Deportivo Cuenca. The match, played at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado before a large crowd, was marked by the home team’s offensive superiority.
The goals came early. At the 3rd minute, Gabriel Villamil opened the scoring with an assist from Leonel Quiñónez. Eight minutes later, Bryan José Ramírez León extended the lead. Although LDU had a goal disallowed in the 19th minute, Alexander Arce scored two goals in the first half (minutes 22 and 42), both assisted by Ramírez León. Finally, Villamil sealed the rout in the 90th minute with another goal, assisted by Damián Díaz.
Despite a slight advantage in possession (52%) for Deportivo Cuenca, LDU was more effective in attack. LDU had 15 shots (5 on target), while Deportivo Cuenca only managed 2 (1 on target). The match was interrupted by a total of 16 fouls, 9 for LDU and 7 for Deportivo Cuenca. Deportivo Cuenca received two yellow cards.
