Málaga Secures Valuable Victory in Gran Canaria with Rodríguez’s Lone Goal
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, August 31, 2025 – In a match held at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, Málaga CF achieved an important narrow victory against UD Las Palmas, corresponding to the third matchday of the Segunda División. The only goal of the match came just before halftime, in the 45th minute, when R. Rodríguez capitalized on an assist from Juanpe to beat the local goalkeeper.
The match, refereed by Eder Mallo Fernandez, was characterized by a high possession percentage in favor of Las Palmas (67%), who generated a total of 14 shots, 6 of which were on target. However, Málaga’s defense proved solid and only allowed one accurate shot, keeping a clean sheet. Málaga, for their part, opted for a more direct game, taking advantage of 33% possession to generate 8 shots, although only one of them was aimed at the rival goal.
The game was also intense in terms of fouls, with 16 committed by Málaga and 7 by Las Palmas. The referee showed a total of five yellow cards, three to Málaga players (Murillo, V. Despite the dominance in possession and offensive attempts, Las Palmas failed to convert their chances and Málaga took the three points from Gran Canaria.
