Lanús Thrashes FBC Melgar in South American Cup
Lanús achieved a resounding 3-0 victory over FBC Melgar at the Estadio Ciudad de Lanús – Néstor Díaz Pérez in a CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2025 group stage match. The game, played on April 10th in Lanús, Buenos Aires Province, was officiated by Uruguayan referee Mathias De Armas.
Despite FBC Melgar’s dominance in possession (66%), Lanús proved more clinical in front of goal. Marcelino Moreno opened the scoring in the 45th minute, assisted by Brian Cabrera. Just two minutes later, E. Salvio doubled the lead, also assisted by Cabrera. In the second half, F. Orozco sealed the victory with a goal in the 80th minute, assisted by S. Marcich.
While Melgar created more goal-scoring opportunities (6 shots to Lanús’ 8), none of their attempts found the target. Lanús, on the other hand, was more accurate, with 5 of their 8 shots on target. The match was characterized by discipline, with a total of 29 fouls and 4 yellow cards (2 for each team). Lanús’ superior finishing and effectiveness in the few chances they created secured them the win.
