Genk Secures Narrow Victory Against KVC Westerlo
Westerlo, Belgium – In a tightly contested match at Het Kuipje, Genk emerged victorious against KVC Westerlo with a score of 1 to 0. The sole goal of the game arrived in the 35th minute, courtesy of Oh Hyeon-Gyu, who capitalized on an assist from K. Karetsas to put his team ahead.
KVC Westerlo dominated ball possession with 49% compared to Genk’s 51%, but a lack of precision in their shots, with only one of their 16 shots on target, prevented them from leveling the score. Despite creating some danger with 4 corner kicks, they failed to convert any opportunities.
Genk, on the other hand, proved more effective in their attacks. Although with fewer total shots (7), they managed to test the rival goalkeeper on four occasions. The match was characterized by relatively clean play, with few fouls committed by either team and no red cards. J. Erabi of Genk was shown a yellow card in stoppage time.
