Oman Edges Out Kuwait in 2026 World Cup Qualifier
Kuwait City, March 25, 2025 – Oman secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Kuwait in a tense World Cup Qualifying match at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. The match, part of the 8th round of the Asian third round qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026, was officiated by Salman Ahmad Falahi from Qatar. While the game was closely contested, Oman proved more clinical in front of goal.
Possession was fairly even, with Oman holding a slight edge (53% to Kuwait’s 47%). Kuwait managed more shots (9 to Oman’s 7), but only one was on target, compared to three for Oman. Despite Kuwait’s higher shot count, accuracy proved decisive.
The only goal of the game arrived in the 56th minute through I. Al Sabhi, assisted by A. Al Harthi. Both teams received one yellow card each; S. Al Enezi for Kuwait and M. Al Ghassani for Oman. Despite the loss, Kuwait displayed a determined performance but ultimately couldn’t break down the Oman defense.
