FC Midtjylland Overpowers KuPS at Väre Areena
Kuopio, Finland – FC Midtjylland convincingly defeated KuPS in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League play-offs, held at Väre Areena. The Danish team controlled the game with 60% possession, generating a total of 30 shots, although only 8 found the target.
The match became more difficult for KuPS in the 38th minute with the expulsion of A. Lotjonen, leaving the Finnish team with one less player. Despite KuPS’ efforts, which managed 8 total shots, 6 of them on target, FC Midtjylland took advantage of their superiority. Junior Brumado opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a penalty, and shortly after, in the 54th minute, A. Simsir extended the lead with a goal from inside the area, after an assist from E. Chilufya. KuPS, with 40% possession, struggled with a defensive approach, but could not reverse the adverse score. The match ended with a clear dominance of FC Midtjylland, reflected in their 10 corners compared to only one for KuPS.
