Kosovo Stuns Sweden with Home Victory
Prishtinë, September 8, 2025 – Kosovo secured an impressive home victory against Sweden at Stadiumi Fadil Vokrri, in a match corresponding to the group stage of the European qualification for the World Cup. The home team, with 32% possession, capitalized on their opportunities to overcome Sweden, who dominated the ball with 68% possession.
The first goal came in the 26th minute, courtesy of E. Rexhbecaj, who opened the scoring for Kosovo. Before halftime, V. Muriqi extended the lead in the 42nd minute, assisted by A. Rrahmani, bringing the match to a two-goal advantage.
Despite Sweden’s efforts in the second half, reflected in their 12 total shots, only 3 managed to be on target, while Kosovo showed greater effectiveness with 5 of their 12 shots on goal. The match was marked by numerous cards, with Kosovo accumulating five yellow cards and one red card in stoppage time. Sweden, meanwhile, received three yellow cards. The match ended with a victory for Kosovo.
