Besiktas Secures Hard-Fought Victory in Konya
Konya, Turkey – In a match dominated by Konyaspor’s possession (71%) but featuring an effective Besiktas, the visiting team emerged victorious at the Medas Konya Büyüksehir Stadyumu. The match, part of Week 3 of the Süper Lig, was officiated by Ozan Ergun.
Besiktas opened the scoring early, in the 21st minute, with a goal by W. Ndidi following an assist from O. Kokcu. Despite Konyaspor’s extensive possession and numerous shots on goal (19 in total), Besiktas’s defense remained solid. The first half concluded with a yellow card for Konyaspor’s J. Muleka in the 43rd minute.
The second half continued with a similar pace. In the 73rd minute, T. Abraham extended Besiktas’s lead, with a goal that seemed to seal the match. However, the joy was short-lived, as in the 85th minute, a goal by T. Abraham was disallowed by VAR due to a handball. Konyaspor attempted to find the equalizer until the end, generating 17 corners throughout the match, but failed to convert. The pressure led to bookings for M. Hekimoglu (min. 63) and E. Destanoglu (min. 71) of Besiktas, as well as for S. Ucan in added time. The match ended with Besiktas’s victory in a tense and hard-fought encounter.
