Kecskeméti TE suffered a dramatic defeat against Fehérvár FC in a thrilling match played at the Széktói Stadion in Kecskemét on March 7th, 2025. The game, part of the 23rd round of the Hungarian NB I, was marked by tension and expulsions.
Kecskeméti TE started strongly, taking the lead with a goal from Bence Katona in the 5th minute. However, a disallowed goal for Drilon Camaj in the 28th minute slowed their momentum. Before halftime, Dávid Zsoter extended Kecskemét’s lead (41′). The first half ended with a yellow card for each team, Botka for Kecskemét and Saponjic for Fehérvár.
The second half saw a shift in momentum. Fehérvár FC, after making several substitutions, pulled one back with a goal from Ivan Saponjic in the 65th minute. Botka’s expulsion in the 81st minute, following a second yellow card, changed the course of the match. Fehérvár had previously seen Szabo sent off (77′). Fehérvár capitalized on their numerical advantage, and Saponjic scored a penalty in the 83rd minute, completing the comeback. The final score was 2-2.
Despite the defeat, Kecskeméti TE showed good offensive capabilities, with 4 shots on target, compared to Fehérvár’s 3. However, Fehérvár controlled possession more effectively (58% to 42%). Both teams committed a significant number of fouls.
