Göztepe Stuns Kasımpaşa in Istanbul with Juan Santos Double
Istanbul, Turkey – In a match held at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadyumu, Göztepe secured an important victory over Kasımpaşa with a final score of 2 to 0. The match, valid for matchday 12 of the Süper Lig, saw Kasımpaşa dominate possession (67%) but unable to translate it into goals.
The first half went without any goals, but the second half was completely different. Juan Santos became the hero of the afternoon by scoring two crucial goals for Göztepe, the first in the 52nd minute assisted by Janderson, and the second in the 55th minute, this time assisted by E. Bekiroglu.
Kasımpaşa tried to react, generating 12 shots in total, but only 3 of them were on target. Göztepe, with 33% possession, was much more effective, taking advantage of their opportunities with 14 total shots, although also only 3 on target.
The match was intense, with a total of 24 fouls committed by Göztepe, who received 3 yellow cards (E. Bekiroglu in the 25th minute, Heliton in the 58th minute, and A. Kurtulan in the 73rd minute). Kasımpaşa committed 7 fouls and received one yellow card for M. Ben Ouanes in the 45th minute. Despite the superiority in possession and corners (5 against 2), Kasımpaşa could not break down Göztepe’s defense.
