Kallithea Suffers Agonizing Defeat to Volos NFC in Tense Encounter
Athens, March 29, 2025.- Kallithea suffered a 1-2 defeat against Volos NFC in a vibrant and eventful match played at the Stadio Apóstolos Nikolaidis, corresponding to the first round of the relegation round of the Greek Super League 1. The match was marked by high tension, reflected in the large number of yellow cards and a red card in the final minutes.
Volos NFC took the lead with an own goal by M. Ndiaye in the 64th minute. Kallithea managed to equalize in stoppage time with a goal from K. Lebon in the 90th minute, but the goal wasn’t enough to avoid defeat. Possession was split, with 55% for Kallithea and 45% for Volos NFC. Kallithea had 5 shots (1 on target), while Volos NFC registered 7 (4 on target). Referee Christos Vergetis officiated a match with a total of 29 fouls and 9 yellow cards, plus a red card for Kallithea in the final moments.
Despite the defeat, Kallithea showed good ball possession. However, the lack of effectiveness in front of goal and the expulsion in the final stretch condemned the home side to defeat. Volos NFC, for its part, knew how to take advantage of its opportunities and takes three vital points in its fight for survival.
