Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM share spoils in a thrilling encounter
Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM played out a 2-2 draw in a pulsating match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Pietersburg on November 30th, 2024. The game, part of round 6 of the Premier Soccer League and officiated by Jelly Chavani of South Africa, was a high-octane affair with goals at both ends.
Chiefs dominated possession (61%) and created more goal-scoring opportunities, registering 17 shots (9 on target). They took an early lead with goals from A. Du Preez (5′) and W. Duba (13′). However, Royal AM, despite having less possession (39%), showed their resilience. M. Ayabulela pulled one back in the 51st minute, and L. Mashiane secured a late equaliser in the 90th minute.
Despite their initial dominance, Kaizer Chiefs saw two of their players cautioned with yellow cards (N. Blom and M. Vilakazi), while Royal AM received just one yellow card for T. Matlaba. The final score was a closely fought contest that didn’t quite reflect Kaizer Chiefs’ early control.
