Junior Triumphs Over Deportivo Cali in Thrilling Match
Barranquilla, November 15, 2024. Junior defeated Deportivo Cali 3-0 in a thrilling match at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez, in the 19th round of the Colombian Primera A Clausura. The match, officiated by Jose Alexander Ortiz Novoa, was characterized by Junior’s dominance in possession (52%) and their clinical finishing.
Diomar Moreno opened the scoring in the 5th minute, assisted by Y. Mosquera Moreno. Deportivo Cali responded with a yellow card to R. Bustamante in the 34th minute. Junior almost extended their lead in the 43rd minute, but a goal by C. Bacca was disallowed for offside.
In the second half, Junior continued to dominate. Junior’s second goal came in the 73rd minute, scored by B. Castrillón. Finally, in the 90th minute, S. Rodriguez sealed the 3-0 victory with a penalty.
Despite the defeat, Deportivo Cali showed fight, registering 6 shots on goal. However, Junior’s efficiency, coupled with a red card for Junior and a total of three yellow cards for both teams, proved decisive in the home team’s victory.
