FC Volendam defeats Jong Ajax in thrilling encounter at Sportpark De Toekomst
Amsterdam-Duivendrecht, March 31st, 2025 – FC Volendam secured a 2-0 victory over Jong Ajax in a captivating match at Sportpark De Toekomst, round 32 of the Eerste Divisie. The game, officiated by T. Hardeman, was characterized by the visiting team’s superior goal-scoring opportunities.
Despite Jong Ajax controlling possession (54%), FC Volendam proved more clinical in front of goal. An own goal by R. van de Pavert in the 37th minute broke the deadlock. J. Jacobs sealed the win for Volendam in the 64th minute, converting a pass from B. Ould-Chikh.
Jong Ajax’s 5 shots on target (only one on goal) proved insufficient to overcome the Volendam defence, despite their territorial dominance. In contrast, Volendam registered 18 shots, 4 of which were on target.
The match also featured a yellow card for Jong Ajax’s J. Johnson in the 57th minute and a high number of fouls from both sides (11 for Jong Ajax and 13 for FC Volendam). FC Volendam’s efficiency secured them all three points in a game that didn’t fully reflect Jong Ajax’s possession advantage.
