Japan Dominates Bahrain in Convincing 2-0 Victory
Saitama, Japan – Japan secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Bahrain at Saitama Stadium 2002 on March 20th, 2025, in a crucial World Cup 2026 Asian qualifier (Round 3, Matchday 7). Japan’s dominance was clear throughout, reflected in their 61% possession and 12 shots (4 on target).
Despite an early disallowed goal for handball at the 9th minute, Japan continued to press. Bahrain’s A. Benaddi received a yellow card in the 19th minute. The second half saw Japan finally break through. Daichi Kamada scored in the 66th minute, assisted by Takefusa Kubo. Kubo himself added another goal in the 87th minute, assisted by Junya Ito. Kubo also received a yellow card in the 88th minute.
Bahrain, with only 39% possession and 7 shots (2 on target), offered little resistance to Japan’s attacking prowess. The match was officiated by Ibrahim Al-Jassim Abdulrahman from Qatar.
