Consadole Sapporo wins thriller against Sagan Tosu
Consadole Sapporo emerged victorious over Sagan Tosu with a thrilling 5-4 win in a J1 League encounter. The match, held at the Daiwa House Premist Dome in Sapporo, was characterized by a back-and-forth battle and a constant fight from both teams.
Sagan Tosu, the visiting team, started the game strong, displaying a dynamic and aggressive style that allowed them to open the scoring in the 10th minute through S. Sarachat. The visitors’ joy was short-lived, as Consadole Sapporo immediately responded and turned the game around with two goals in just one minute. First, Y. Komai scored in the 11th minute with an assist from Sarachat, and then he found the back of the net again in the 16th to make it 2-1.
The second half began with Sagan Tosu determined to regain control of the game. Their efforts were rewarded with two goals in the 57th and 60th minutes, courtesy of A. Fukuta and T. Kubo respectively. However, the visitors’ happiness was fleeting. Consadole Sapporo managed to equalize in the 70th minute, this time with an own goal by W. Harada. The tie didn’t last long. Sagan Tosu regained the lead in the 77th minute with a goal by K. Sakaiya, but fate had one last twist in store for the match. In the 89th minute, a penalty committed by Sagan Tosu was converted by A. Bakayoko, sealing the final victory for Consadole Sapporo 5-4.
Consadole Sapporo dominated ball possession with 56%, while Sagan Tosu held 44%. The home team had more goal opportunities, with 16 shots, of which 8 were on target and 6 off target. Sagan Tosu, in turn, registered 12 shots, 6 on target and 2 off target.
