Galatasaray Edges Out Istanbul Basaksehir in a Tense Encounter
Istanbul, Turkey – Galatasaray overcame Istanbul Basaksehir in a hard-fought match at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium, in the ninth round of the Süper Lig. The match, refereed by Atilla Karaoglan, was marked by intensity and numerous cautions.
The first half ended with Galatasaray ahead thanks to a goal by L. Sane in the 45th minute, assisted by I. Gundogan. However, Istanbul Basaksehir did not give up and managed to equalize in the 59th minute with a goal by E. Shomurodov, assisted by O. Kemen.
Galatasaray regained the lead in the 62nd minute thanks to a second goal from L. Sane, this time assisted by Gabriel Sara. Despite Istanbul Basaksehir’s efforts to get back into the game, Galatasaray managed to maintain the lead until the end.
The match was tactical and competitive, with Galatasaray having a slightly superior possession of the ball (55% versus Basaksehir’s 45%). Galatasaray generated more danger with 16 shots, although only 5 were on target, while Basaksehir attempted 4 shots, with 2 directed at the goal. The referee was forced to show numerous yellow cards, with six for Galatasaray players and two for Istanbul Basaksehir players, highlighting the tension on the field. Previously, a Shomurodov goal was disallowed for offside.
