Iran Edges Out Uzbekistan in Thrilling Tehran Encounter
The Azadi Stadium in Tehran hosted a captivating match between Iran and Uzbekistan, part of the 8th round of the Asian World Cup 2026 qualifying group. The game, officiated by Ahmed Abu Bakar Said Al Kaf (Oman), concluded with a 3-2 victory for Iran.
Uzbekistan took an early lead with a goal from K. Erkinov in the 16th minute. However, Iran responded and equalized in the 52nd minute through M. Taremi. Uzbekistan regained the lead just a minute later with a goal from A. Fayzullaev. But Iran proved their dominance in the second half, with M. Taremi scoring his second goal in the 83rd minute, assisted by H. Kanaani, securing the victory.
