Inter Edges Out Sassuolo in Thrilling Match with Refereeing Controversy
Milan, Italy – In a match full of emotions and controversial refereeing decisions, Inter Milan defeated Sassuolo at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The match, corresponding to matchday 4 of Serie A, ended with a final score favorable to the home team, albeit not without suffering.
Inter took the lead early in the match, thanks to a goal by Federico Dimarco in the 14th minute, assisted by Patrick Sucic. The home team dominated possession with 61%, creating numerous scoring opportunities. However, Sassuolo remained firm in defense, looking for opportunities on the counterattack.
The second half maintained the intensity, with Inter looking to extend their lead and Sassuolo trying to equalize. Carlos Augusto extended the lead for Inter in the 81st minute. But Sassuolo did not give up and pulled one back in the 84th minute with a goal by Walid Cheddira, assisted by Domenico Berardi.
The controversy came in the 86th minute, when a goal by Davide Frattesi was disallowed by VAR due to an offside, generating controversy among fans and the Inter bench.
The match ended with a victory for Inter, who dominated in possession and shots, but suffered against a combative Sassuolo who never gave up. Referee Livio Marinelli showed two yellow cards to Inter and one to Sassuolo.
