Boca Juniors Edges Out Independiente Rivadavia in Hard-Fought Match
Los Polvorines, Province of Buenos Aires – Boca Juniors secured a victory over Independiente Rivadavia in a match that, while ending with a comfortable scoreline, was more closely contested than the final result suggests. The match, played at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas under the watchful eye of referee Pablo Dovalo, saw Boca Juniors prevail with a final score of 2 to 1.
The game began with an intense pace and several cautions. Carlos Palacios and Miguel Pellegrino of Boca Juniors, along with P. Souto of Independiente Rivadavia, received yellow cards in the first half. Independiente Rivadavia took the lead thanks to an own goal by E. Centurion in the 30th minute, but the lead would not last.
In the second half, Boca Juniors came out with renewed energy. Despite Independiente Rivadavia holding the majority of the possession (52% compared to Boca’s 48%), the Xeneize team managed to turn the score around in the final minutes of the match. E. Zeballos, assisted by W. H. Alarcon Cepeda, equalized in the 88th minute. Just two minutes later, A. Velasco, assisted by M. Gimenez, sealed the victory for Boca Juniors. The match ended with a yellow card for S. Studer of Independiente Rivadavia. Although both teams had the same number of shots (11), Boca Juniors demonstrated greater effectiveness in front of goal, while Independiente Rivadavia struggled to maintain their lead.
