Turkey thrashes Hungary in a vibrant UEFA Nations League match
Budapest, March 23, 2025.- Turkey defeated Hungary with a resounding 3-0 victory in a match played at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, corresponding to the Playoffs A/B of the 2024 UEFA Nations League. The match, officiated by Felix Zwayer (Germany), was marked by intensity and Turkey’s superiority on the scoreboard.
Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a penalty, and Arda Güler extended the lead just two minutes later with a field goal. Turkey’s dominance continued in the second half, culminating in the third goal scored by A. Bardakci in the 90th minute.
The match was intense, with a total of 29 fouls and seven yellow cards distributed between both teams. Hungary had more possession (54%), but Turkey was more effective in reaching the goal, with four shots on target compared to its rival’s two.
