Sweden Defeats Hungary in Friendly Match in Budapest
Budapest, Hungary – In a friendly match played at the Puskás Aréna, Sweden defeated Hungary in a game that saw a slightly greater possession dominance for the Swedes (55% against Hungary’s 45%). The game, refereed by Atilla Karaoglan from Turkey, had several tense moments, reflected in the four yellow cards shown: one for Hungary and three for Sweden.
The first half ended goalless, but the second half brought the action. B. Nygren opened the scoring for Sweden in the 49th minute, after an assist from H. Ekdal. Y. Ayari extended the lead for the Swedes in the 65th minute.
Hungary tried to react, but their 15 shots, 5 of which were on target, failed to materialize. Sweden, on the other hand, made better use of their opportunities, with 6 of their 13 shots directed at the goal. The Swedes also had a slight advantage in corners (8 to 5) and committed twice as many fouls as Hungary (16 to 8). The match, part of the 2025 season’s friendlies, showed a more effective Sweden in front of the opponent’s goal.
