Dramatic Draw Between Huachipato and O’Higgins in Talcahuano
A match full of emotion and controversy was witnessed at the Estadio CAP in Talcahuano, where Huachipato and O’Higgins drew in a match corresponding to matchday 16 of the Primera División.
O’Higgins took the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to a goal by B. Rabello, assisted by R. Godoy, unleashing joy in the visiting fans. However, Huachipato did not give up and, after a hard-fought first half, found the equalizer in the 51st minute through a penalty converted by L. Altamirano.
The match became increasingly intense, with constant attacks on both goals. Fouls were present, reflected in the cautions for A. Castillo for Huachipato in the 31st minute and for N. Garrido for O’Higgins in the 78th minute. The tension reached its peak in stoppage time, when N. Garrido saw his second yellow card and, consequently, the red card, leaving O’Higgins with ten men. In the last minute, Huachipato took advantage of the numerical superiority and won another penalty, again converted by L. Altamirano, establishing the final draw. C. Martinez from Huachipato was also cautioned in the 90th minute.
While Huachipato had more ball possession (52%) and more shots on target (8), O’Higgins generated a greater number of total shots (17). The match, refereed by Piero Maza, left a bittersweet feeling for both teams, who add a point in their quest to climb positions in the table.
