Honduras Claims Victory in a Tight Match Against Curaçao
San Jose, California – In a hard-fought match at PayPal Park as part of the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2025, Honduras managed to overcome Curaçao with a score of 2 to 1. The match, officiated by Jamaican referee Oshane Nation, was marked by intensity and midfield battles.
The first half saw Honduras take the lead in the 32nd minute thanks to a goal by J. Alvarez, assisted by K. Arriaga. However, Curaçao responded before halftime with an own goal by E. Menjivar in the 42nd minute, leveling the score.
The second half was just as tense, with both teams searching for the winning goal. Ball possession was slightly in favor of Curaçao with 54%, while Honduras maintained 46%. Despite generating more total shots (10 vs 9), Curaçao struggled to convert, with only 3 shots on target compared to Honduras’ 2. The difference was ultimately made by L. Palma in the 90th minute, who scored for Honduras after an assist from C. Pineda, securing the three points for his team. The match was filled with yellow cards, with Curaçao receiving four and Honduras one.
