Hajduk Split Edges Out Gorica in Thrilling Stadion Poljud Encounter
Split, Croatia – HNK Hajduk Split secured a 2-1 victory over HNK Gorica in a captivating match at Stadion Poljud this Saturday, March 9th. Despite possessing less of the ball (38%), Hajduk proved more clinical in front of goal.
The match started with a yellow card for Hajduk’s J. Mlakar in the 7th minute. However, the home side took the lead in the 22nd minute through a goal from Mlakar, assisted by Sigur. Gorica had a goal disallowed for handball in the 27th minute.
Hajduk extended their lead in the second half with an own goal from I. Banić in the 68th minute. Although Gorica pushed for a comeback, they only managed a late goal in the 90th minute scored by M. Slogar. The final score was 2-1 in favour of Hajduk Split. Despite dominating possession (62%) and shots (10 to 5), Gorica couldn’t overcome Hajduk’s defensive resilience.
