Heart of Midlothian and Rangers played an exciting match at Tynecastle Park in Edinburgh this Saturday, February 16th, 2025, corresponding to matchday 26 of the Scottish Premiership. The match, refereed by J. Beaton, ended with a 2-3 victory for Rangers.
The home side started better, controlling 53% of possession and generating more goal-scoring opportunities (21 shots, 10 on target). An own goal by J. McCart in the 20th minute unexpectedly put Rangers ahead. However, M. Steinwender equalized for Heart of Midlothian in the 49th minute, assisted by J. Penrice. V. Cerny put Rangers back in front in the 61st minute, but a second own goal by J. McCart in the 73rd minute sealed the victory for the visitors. The match was marked by yellow cards to I. Hagi (Rangers) in the 17th minute and B. Baningime (Heart of Midlothian) in the 66th minute. Despite Heart of Midlothian’s greater possession and shots, Rangers’ effectiveness gave them the win.
