Goztepe defeated Istanbul Basaksehir in a thrilling match at the Gürsel Aksel Stadyumu in İzmir, Turkey. The game, part of the 33rd round of the Turkish Süper Lig, ended with a 4-1 victory for the home side. The referee was Kadir Saglam.
Goztepe controlled large parts of the game, despite Istanbul Basaksehir enjoying a higher possession rate (57%). Goztepe’s clinical finishing proved decisive. F. Bayir opened the scoring in the 25th minute, assisted by K. Kanatsizkus. Kanatsizkus then doubled the lead in the 42nd minute, assisted by Romulo Cardoso. In the second half, A. Ildiz (65th minute) and Emersonn (87th minute) sealed the victory. D. Tijanic and Romulo Cardoso provided the assists for those goals. P.P. Keny scored a consolation goal for Istanbul Basaksehir in the 75th minute, assisted by D. Turuc.
Despite the result, Istanbul Basaksehir created a significant number of chances (8 on target from 11 shots), while Goztepe, with more shots (29, 12 on target), proved more efficient. Both teams received two yellow cards each.
