Göztepe Stuns Beşiktaş with Convincing Victory in İzmir
İzmir, Turkey – Göztepe delivered a memorable performance in front of their home crowd at the Gürsel Aksel Stadyumu, overcoming Beşiktaş with a 3-0 victory in a match corresponding to the sixth round of the Süper Lig.
The match started electrifyingly for the home side. Juan Santos opened the scoring in the 4th minute after an excellent assist from Heliton, unleashing euphoria in the stands. Göztepe’s pressure continued, and in the 19th minute, Rhaldney extended the lead with a goal driven by a play initiated by A. Kurtulan. In the second half, despite Beşiktaş’s dominance in possession (69%), Göztepe managed to maintain defensive composure. The icing on the cake was added by I. Sabra in the 84th minute, sealing the victory with a resounding 3-0.
Although Beşiktaş tried to reverse the result, their efforts were in vain, with only two shots on target out of the thirteen attempts made. Göztepe, with remarkable effectiveness, seized their opportunities to take all three points and consolidate their position in the league. Referee Mehmet Turkmen managed the match without major incidents, in a match that made clear the fighting spirit of the home team.
