Goiás and Vila Nova played a thrilling match in the third round of the 2025 Serie B, held at Estádio de Hailé Pinheiro in Goiânia. The match, refereed by Rafael Rodrigo Klein, ended with a 2-3 victory for Vila Nova.
Goiás started better, dominating possession (58%) and creating more scoring chances (17 shots, 3 on target). Arthur Caike opened the scoring in the 27th minute, assisted by Rodrigo Andrade. However, Vila Nova reacted quickly and equalized before half-time with a goal from F. Labandeira (41st minute), assisted by Gabriel Poveda.
The second half was even more intense. Messias put Goiás ahead in the 66th minute, thanks to an assist from Rafael Gava. But Vila Nova fought back with two goals in the final minutes. Arilson scored the 2-2 in the 89th minute, assisted by Jean Mota, and subsequently, Vila Nova secured the victory.
The game was marked by tension, with a total of 10 yellow cards and one red card for Vila Nova’s Elias in the closing stages. Despite Goiás’s positional dominance, Vila Nova showed greater effectiveness in front of goal, achieving victory in a thrilling finish.
