Celta Vigo and Girona draw in thrilling match at Montilivi
Celta Vigo and Girona played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi. The match, corresponding to matchday 26 of La Liga 2024, played on March 1st, 2025 in Girona, was characterized by equality in play and a changing scoreboard.
Tsygankov put Girona ahead in the 21st minute, assisted by Herrera. Losada equalized for Celta in the 36th minute thanks to an assist from Carreira. Alonso put Celta ahead with a penalty in the 51st minute. Herrera scored again for Girona in the 68th minute, assisted by Tsygankov, tying the game. Both teams showed remarkable equality, reflected in the possession of the ball (50% for each team) and the number of shots on goal (6 for Girona and 5 for Celta). Despite the numerous fouls committed by Celta (17) compared to Girona’s 8, referee Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias did not show any yellow or red cards. The match ended 3-3.
