Gimnasia La Plata edged out San Martín de San Juan in a tense and controversial match. The game, played at the Estadio Juan Carmelo Zerillo in La Plata, ended 1-0 in favor of the home team. The only goal came in the 38th minute from a penalty converted by P. De Blasis. The match was marked by the expulsion of M. Panaro from Gimnasia in the 41st minute, after receiving two yellow cards.
