Croatia Unleashes Offensive Prowess Against Gibraltar in Faro
Faro, Portugal – In a match held at the Estádio Do Algarve, Croatia demonstrated a clear superiority over Gibraltar in the European qualifiers for the 2024 World Cup. The Croatian team dominated possession with 69% compared to Gibraltar’s 31%, translating into an avalanche of goal-scoring opportunities.
The score opened in the 28th minute with a goal from M. Pasalic, assisted by I. Perisic. Just two minutes later, A. Budimir extended the lead thanks to an assist from M. Pasalic. A goal by L. Sucic was disallowed by VAR in the 38th minute due to offside.
In the second half, Croatia maintained the pressure. F. Ivanovic, who had just entered the field, scored two quick goals in the 60th and 63rd minutes, both assisted by I. Perisic. I. Perisic joined the scoring spree in the 73rd minute, assisted by M. Pasalic. A. Kramaric sealed the victory with two more goals in the 77th and 80th minutes, assisted by L. Majer and F. Ivanovic respectively.
While Gibraltar fought hard, they barely managed to generate two shots, none of them on target. Croatia, on the other hand, amassed 29 shots, 13 of them directed at the opposing goal, consolidating a convincing victory in a match where Croatian dominance was undeniable. M. Pongracic received a yellow card for Croatia. The match, refereed by Georgi Kabakov of Bulgaria, leaves Croatia with a significant boost on their road to the World Cup.
