Germany Dominates Luxembourg in Match Marked by Red Card
Sinsheim, Germany – In a lopsided encounter held at the PreZero Arena, Germany demonstrated its superiority over Luxembourg, achieving a resounding victory. The match, part of the European qualifying group stage for the 2024 World Cup, was marked by the overwhelming dominance of the home side and an early red card that conditioned Luxembourg’s game.
Despite a goal disallowed to Gnabry in the 4th minute due to a VAR review (handball), Germany quickly opened the scoring thanks to Raum in the 12th minute. Carlson’s expulsion in the 20th minute with a red card further complicated Luxembourg’s aspirations, and Kimmich extended the lead by converting a penalty in the 21st minute.
In the second half, Germany continued to press and managed to increase their lead with goals from Gnabry in the 48th minute and again Kimmich in the 50th minute. Despite Luxembourg’s attempts to contain the German attack, ball possession overwhelmingly favored the home side (85%), who generated numerous scoring opportunities, converting four and showing remarkable effectiveness in the opponent’s area. The match ended with a clear dominance from Germany, reflected in the scoreline and in the match statistics. Luxembourg, with ten players for much of the game, fought bravely but could not counter the German superiority.
